Quicker to use CDS or Dynamics 365 connector?

Hi, I am trying to improve the speed of my app and trying to understand whether there are any efficiencies to be found in using the CDS connector as opposed to Dynamics 365 for a standard entity such as Contacts?

Currently using the Dynamics connector (as all our business info is in that application).
