Execution speed when starting Power AutoMate Desktop flows using Power AutoMate's automatic triggers

It is unclear why starting a PowerAutomate Desktop flow using PowerAutomate's automatic triggers takes significantly longer than running a PowerAutomate Desktop flow from the flow list.

Please let me know how to remedy this.

I have the same question (0)

So I assume you mean that when using Power Automate cloud(make.powerautomate.com) flow to run power automate desktop flow either attended or unattended takes some time to start versus when you just hit play button from Power Automate Desktop app.
That's because when you run the flow from cloud it needs to first connect and login to the machine before starting the flow. So that usually takes about a minute.

    Thank you for your reply.
It is not the time it takes to start up, but the time it takes while the flow is running.
A flow that normally takes 30 minutes takes 1 or 2 hours.
We would appreciate it if you could tell us the cause of the problem.

    Hi @furiend,

-> There is an action in your flow that is failing on the first attempt and then trying to connect again. And in the second try it must be connecting, probably for this power automate might not show an error. So this could be also responsible for more time taken.

-> So in retry it tries to connect for the first time, if it is not able to, it will stop for 5 minutes then try to again connect it, and if it fails again, then again it takes 5 minutes. So by default this happens 4 times. 1st failed, and then three more attempts. Check Retry policies.

-> Try to run the BOT attended mode and see, any of the actions is taking too much time than expected. If yes, then you should some exception handling methods to your flow to ensure the flow execution finishes in the expected time.

-> Try to check the licenses owned, confirm the license is in use. This will also impact the performance of the flow. Based on the license performance different action request limits per time period have been throttled in your flow, which exceeds the limit.

    thanks,

Please accept as a solution if I've answered your query.

Can you check the logs what actions are taking so long? In make.powerautomate.com go to Desktop flow runs and check if some actions are taking a long time to complete

    Hi @furiend ,

Everyone facing same issue it will lt take some time to connect from cloud to flow, instead of machine you can try with gateway as well.

If I have answered your question, please mark it as the preferred solution. If you like my response, please give it a Thumbs Up.

    Regards,
    Riyaz

I am using Power Automate. power automate desktop flow triggered to run twice daily at 8am and 12pm with power automate, but it is 1 to ~2 hours slower than turning from the pencil mark (execution delay 1) in power automate desktop.
Please let me know the cause.

    Hi @furiend ,

As I mentioned above, kindly check your license activity and your flow capacity. if the doesn't have required license there should have this behavior. Kindly try to run your BOT in attended mode and see any actions taking exceptions. This can also be an issue.

Kindly check above points and let us know if it resolved.

    thanks,

if my response answered your query kindly mark it as solution and Thum Up!

What is the execution speed of power automate?

We have two computers with the following specs.
They are used in the same environment.

    PC no. 1

    Device name ●●●●
    Processor 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-12700 2.10 GHz
Implemented RAM 64.0 GB (63.7 GB available)
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
    Edition Windows 11 Pro
    Version 23H2

    PC no. 2

Processor AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 5650GE with Radeon Graphics 3.40 GHz
Implemented RAM 32.0 GB (31.3 GB available)
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
    Edition Windows 11 Home
    Version 23H2

The time required to complete the same sub-flow within the same flow on these two computers is shown below.
The sub-flows are only simple actions such as deleting empty Excel rows in a loop.

    PC no.1

    1. From pressing the flow playback triangle button in the image to pressing the sub-flow to completion

    2 minutes and 9 seconds

    2. When the relevant flow is opened from the pencil mark and executed with the execution delay set to 1

    1 minute 23 seconds

    PC no.2

    1. Press the flow playback triangle button on the image, and then press the sub-flow to complete.

    1 minute 15 seconds

    2. When the relevant flow is opened from the pencil mark and executed with the execution delay set to 1

    1 minute 50 seconds

What is the cause of the difference in execution speed as shown above?
When I run the entire flow, not just the sub-flows, the difference is 1 to 3 hours. I would like to improve it.
