Unable to integrate MCP under Subagent

Hi Team,

Requirement:
We are building a parent agent with multiple subagents, each designed to handle specific tasks.

As part of this effort, we attempted to create a subagent and integrate it with MCP. However, we observed that the associated MCP toolset is not available within the subagent. This issue occurs with both NeoLoad MCP and Jira MCP integrations.

Interestingly, when we integrate the same MCP under the parent agent, the tools work as expected. But for our use case, the MCP integrations must be accessible within the subagents.

Could you please help us understand if subagent-level MCP integration is supported, and if so, how we can enable the associated toolsets?

Thank you for your support.

This is actually a limitation today, I do not know when Microsoft has it in the roadmap to change it, but this is unfortunately just how it is today for MCP and sub agents.

To do otherwise, in a way, sort of makes the subagent almost meh, but you would have to have the subagents call back to the Parent to go through MCP for them.

Yes, agree, so you can have your Child call it via Power Automate, or you have to literally create what I would call a chatter back and forth.

Since the child cannot call the parent, the User/Process makes the Parent call the child. The child responds with a message that you will parse and understand it to mean "call this MCP for me", then you will, as the parent send the answer back to the child.

Personally using Power automate is easier but it depends on your total process requirements.

If these suggestions help resolve your issue, Please consider Marking the answer as such and also maybe a like.

    Thank you!
