App accidentally deleted from Dev env and has affected prod

Hey everyone,

posting here to see if anyone can explain why the production version of an app is no longer working after it was accidentally deleted form the dev environment (not solution)?

The app that was created is a code app and I have the current version in GIT. I have pushed it back to Dev, but I am worried about pushing it via the deployment pipeline back to prod as it now has a new App Id - how will this affect dataverse tables that had data linked to the old App id?

I've raised a ticket in the meantime within my business to see if admins can revert the deleted action but am wandering if there is anything else I can do in the meantime or anyone can provide insight to my issue!

Cheers

This situation is mainly related to how Microsoft Power Apps handles App IDs across environments.

    Key point
    • When the app was deleted in Dev:
    • The original App ID was removed
    • Recreating it from Git generated a new App ID
This means Dev and Prod are no longer aligned.

    Good news
    • Your data in Microsoft Dataverse is safe
    • Dataverse tables and records are not tied to the App ID
    What could be impacted
    • App sharing permissions
    • Embedded links (Teams, SharePoint, bookmarks)
    • Power Automate flows or integrations using the old App ID
    • Deployment pipeline consistency
    Recommended approach
    • Check with admins if the app can be restored (best option)
    • Avoid deploying to Production until confirmed
    • If restore isn’t possible:
      • Treat it as a new app
      • Reconfigure sharing, links, and integrations
While your data remains unaffected, the App ID change impacts app references and deployment alignment, so it’s best to proceed carefully.
