I'm in a GCC tenant. GPT-5 was supposedly rolled into GCC several months back, with a completion date for the end of January 2026. However, when developing agents, we do not see it as an option. We still see 4.0. Anyone know if MS is still implementing 5 for GCC? Is there any method for checking their progress? I've been to the roadmap page and see nothing about this - Microsoft 365 Roadmap | Microsoft 365 .

In Copilot Studio this isn’t a configuration issue on your side — it’s cloud availability.

Microsoft’s Copilot Studio “model availability” table shows that for US Government clouds (GCC / GCC High / DoD) the default/orchestration model is currently GPT-4o, and GPT-5 isn’t listed as available there. That’s why your agent builder still only offers “4.x/4.0” options. (Microsoft Learn)

For rollout/progress tracking, the best “source of truth” is that same Microsoft Learn page (they update the tables as availability changes). (Microsoft Learn)
Also note: the Microsoft 365 Roadmap is explicitly for commercial features, so it often won’t show GCC-specific timelines.

If you’re looking at broader Copilot (not Copilot Studio): Microsoft’s Public Sector blog indicates GPT-5 is part of “Wave 2” for GCC High expected in the first half of 2026. (Tech Community)

Thank you. I opened a request with MS and could get a solid answer. My agency is currently creating agents and if GPT-5 is close, our creators might wait for it. It seems when we see it in Studio that is the only way we'll know they deployed it to GCC. I appreciate your answer. Contained valuable information.
