How to import and excel file with Choices into Dataverse using Cloudflows

Hey All,

I am in a model driven environment and using Dataverse as my database. I want to load an excel file with multiple columns into my solution but one of those columns is a choices (multi-select) column where we have around 30 different choices to select from. In the column for the choices, how do I separate those rows that have more than one choice selected so when I use a cloudflow, I do not get an error? Do I use the numerical value (40001442) separated by semicolons with no spaces (e.g. 40001442;50001442;60001442) or some other method?

Also, these items I am loading are new cases. I have read to upload all case information first then upload the choices after the cases has been created. I have been looking all over and using AI but I have not found anything that matches my specific use case.

Finally, I want to create a cloudflow so I can create a repeatable process - I don't want to use the export and import excel method if I don't have to. Any help would be appreciated.

Comma separate the integer values (with no spaces)

If your record has Lookup columns, you need to import those parent records first otherwise the lookup column cannot be resolved during import (a lookup is the child side of a 1-to-many or parent-child relationship)

For a Dataverse multi-select Choices column, use the numeric option values separated by commas, not semicolons. Example: 40001442,50001443,60001444. Store the Excel column as Text format to avoid conversion errors. In Power Automate, you can create the Case and populate the multi-select field in the same “Add a new row” action, no need to create the Case first and update choices later.

Your flow can simply read Excel rows and map the comma-separated values directly into the Dataverse multi-select column. Using numeric values is the most reliable approach for repeatable imports and automation.

let me know if you need more details for the same.
