Can't open knowledge resources links in m365 mobile app

Hi,

I'm experiencing an issue with Copilot agents in the Microsoft 365 mobile app on iOS.

When a Copilot agent returns a response that includes source citations, the links are SharePoint URLs with the ?web=1 parameter (intended to open the file in the browser). On desktop, clicking these links works as expected and opens the SharePoint page in the browser.

However, on the Microsoft 365 mobile app, tapping the source links does nothing — it will not open, Only asking me to open with Word, wich does not work.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open a Copilot agent in the Microsoft 365 mobile app
2. Ask a question that triggers a response with SharePoint source citations
3. Tap a source link in the response
4. Expected: Link opens in browser
5. Actual: Nothing happens

The same agent and links work correctly in the desktop version of the Microsoft 365 app.

Please advise on a fix or workaround.

This does not appear to be a Copilot Studio configuration issue. The evidence points to a Microsoft 365 iOS app limitation/bug in handling SharePoint source

citation links returned by Copilot agents. Since the same citations work correctly on desktop, the URLs themselves are likely valid. I would recommend testing

direct URL access in Safari and opening a Microsoft support case with:

iOS version

Microsoft 365 app version

Sample SharePoint URL

Screenshots/video of the behavior

This will help Microsoft determine whether the issue is a known mobile client defect or a regression in recent app updates.

Thank you for your response! I have now tested the behavior across all platforms and wanted to share the full findings:

Desktop (M365 app)
Works correctly — the link opens the SharePoint document as expected.

Android (M365 app)
Works correctly — the link opens the SharePoint file directly inside the M365 app.

iOS (M365 app)
Two issues observed:

1. Tapping the link in the Copilot agent response prompts me to open the file in Word, even though Word is not installed on the device. The document does not open.

2. When I copy the link and paste it manually into Chrome on iOS, I get an error saying the link needs to be opened in Chrome — which then fails as described above.

The result is that the link is completely inaccessible on iOS — neither through the M365 app nor through a browser.

Has anyone found a workaround for this? For example:
- An alternative URL format that bypasses Universal Links on iOS?
- A SharePoint sharing link format that behaves differently?
- Any iOS settings that could help?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
