Sharing PowerApps with External Users

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by

Hi - I have used search above to find discussions about whether External users can receive invites to an organisation created powerapp. They are all 1 or 2 years old.

Can anyone give me a reliable update on whether this is already implemented or will be?

Also I saw that an external user could be added as a guest account, which would allow them to use powerapps. Is this something only tenant admin could do?

Sharing Apps to external users in PowerApps is not available.

When adding external users, it will remind you the following message:

    The current doc sharing:

    "

    What isn't supported?

    • You can share to a security group but not a distribution group.
    • You can share apps with users in your organization but not users in another tenant.
    • You can re-share an app if you have Can edit (not Can use) permission to that app.

    "

Sharing with external users would be amazing and market disrupting...  Please allow it!

Technically it does work. When external users access your site page which has a powerapps form they will be informed they require a license and have the opportunity to pay $7 for the right to use said form. Problem solved right?

We like to build an app to collect data from 10,000 volunteers. It will be great if there is a user management feature in power app that allows external users to log in securely to the app. Something similar to CRM portal where we pay a fixed cost to engage with customers.

    Hi @bdc604

Ive seen you post this on a few sites about the $7 license to use the form

But, how do you actually get to the point where you can get this message/license?

Ive tried navigating to the web app page but just give me a permission error

    Many Thanks

    This is a very
Why create a platform for creating applications if you can not share apps with your customer or extern users - only in your internal company!!!
This is Microsoft's intentional politics take much as possible money for so little as possible.!
This is an annoying situation It's good that there are alternative platforms for Microsoft
Because you do not respect your clients and do not count on their opinion.
From the monopoly position Microsoft on the IT market, it seems to you that people do not have other alternative solutions... They have!

Found other options like outsystems, caspio, k2 which are more intuitive than powerapps and low cost when scaling. Low code development platforms are the future for organisations wanting to quickly digitalise their business.

Agreed. This is a deal breaking limiter. Just got so excited of the opportunities then kablam! Brick wall - only available to internal users. 🤦‍♂️

Why does Microsoft even assumed that "processes" that would greatly benefit from PowerApps would only run within a single organization?? (perhaps, because they primarly care about large organizations?).

Small to medium size companys constantly deal with partners, vendors, customers, contractors, etc.. that are an intrical part of the day to day processes. PowerApps can be the perfect technology "glue" to covers B2E, B2B. and B2C.... BUT NOT with the current licensing model.  😞

Google's suite and general "user agnostic" approach is eating MS's lunch when it comes to breaking the line between consumer and business scenarios, yet MS keeps forcing people into a "personal vs your own business" bucket.  That's not how the real world works.

Open PowerApps accross the entire spectrum (including B2B and B2C) (reduce it's fees, change the licensing or eliminate them to drive adoption, charge per usage instead not per user).  Make your money in the cloud where it really matters.
