Hi everyone,

In my Conversation Start topic i have an agent MFA Verification. But after collecting user info. It didn't go back to the topic and resume. Please tell me how to fix this. It was still working on June, 5th 2026.

I have the same question (0)

Microsoft docs explicitly state: "You can explicitly redirect to a child or connected agent from within a topic. Once the agent is done, the originating topic where you redirected from resumes."

So the resume should work. If it stopped working June 5, two things to verify:
    1. The MFA Verification connected agent must be triggered via an explicit Redirect node inside a topic, not via generative orchestration. If your Conversation Start topic uses generative orchestration to call the agent rather than an explicit Redirect node, the parent won't resume automatically. Switch to an explicit Redirect node in the topic pointing to the MFA agent.
    2. Check if the MFA Verification agent ends with an End topic node rather than End conversation. End conversation terminates the entire session and the parent will never resume. End topic signals completion back to the parent.

If you're already using explicit Redirect and End topic and it still doesn't resume after June 5, raise a Microsoft support ticket with that regression date. It may be a platform bug introduced in a recent update.

    Best regards,

    Valantis

hi @Valantis "Check if the MFA Verification agent ends with an End topic node rather than End conversation" I couldn't find that setting in our MFA Verification at all. Also in the flow i can only Add an agent but no action named "redirect" . Can you give me a screenshot related to what u're saying

Thanks for the screenshot now I can see exactly what's happening.

Your MFA Verification agent is an autonomous sub-agent configured with "The agent chooses" which means the parent's generative orchestrator decides when to call it. This is different from an explicit Redirect node in a topic.

The issue is that when generative orchestration calls a sub-agent, the parent doesn't always resume the Conversation Start topic context reliably. Microsoft docs confirm: "You can explicitly redirect to a child or connected agent from within a topic. Once the agent is done, the originating topic where you redirected from resumes."

The key word is "explicitly" from within a topic using the Add an agent node. Here's the fix:
    1. In your Conversation Start topic (not the sub-agent), after the point where you want MFA to run, add a node by clicking the + button
    2. Select Add an agent from the menu
    3. Choose your MFA Verification agent
    4. Add your next steps after that node

This creates an explicit redirect that guarantees the parent topic resumes after the sub-agent completes. The sub-agent doesn't need an "End topic" node because the explicit redirect pattern handles the return automatically.

The "The agent chooses" setting on the sub-agent is fine for autonomous invocation. For your Conversation Start flow where you need guaranteed execution and resume, the explicit Add an agent node in the topic is what you need.

    Best regards,

    Valantis
