Expression Automatically Changing to Array

Posted on by

For years, I have used this format to create email tables.

Initialize Array Variable with null

For each - Condition - Append to Array Variable

Create HTML Table - variables('arrayvariable')

Now, when I add my variable in the Create HTML Table step, close the edit step window, then try to edit the step again, I see Power Automate automatically changes the expression. It now says "Output - Array" and puts brackets [ ] around the expression. Then I get this massive error.

{"message":"Request failed with status code 400","name":"AxiosError","code":"ERR_BAD_REQUEST"...

My old flows work great, but I cannot create new flows with these steps. Help!

Sorry to read you are running into issues which most likely are caused by the editor itself.

Having said that, there are two possible solutions that come to mind:
    1. Switch back to the classic editing experience to implement this pattern. This should allow to build the pattern without the auto "correction".
    2. Use another pattern where instead of a variable, you use a Compose action inside the loop which you then reference from the inputs of the Create HTML table action. It will give you the same result as the pattern you are following:
