MS Bookings Event Triggers Multiple Times

(0) ShareShare

I have a flow that monitors a Calendar used by MS Bookings.

It uses the 'When an Event is Added, Updated or Deleted (V3)' trigger

I have it add a message to Teams when a change occurs.

It's generating an event every few minutes.

has anyone come across this or know why MS Bookings would trigger this event without anyone manually changing anything?

@Rusty1 not sure why the issue but you can try adding a trigger condition which might trigger only once.

Please note, it takes a minute to trigger at times when trigger conditions are in place.

That's good info, I'll use that in the future.

However, the flow is monitoring the calendar events for any changes and needs to run every time.

MS Bookings is continually updating the event itself but there are no changes and the event itself doesn't hold any useful information as to what is happening.

It just keeps triggering over and over again, sometimes up to 9 times before it stops.

@Rusty1 even in that case you have a conditional trigger which would satisfy each time the event is updated, hopefully with the trigger it might trigger once.

Found another post with the same issue. Problem is that there's no way to know what triggered the event, whether it was a new, modified or canceled action, there's nothing in the body of the event that differentiates it from the others.

I have some logic that compares the existing SharePoint item date with the date on the automate event, if they differ then I can assume it's a reschedule, if it is the same then I can assume it's a cancellation.

This only works if there's only ever one appointment open per customer, otherwise it doesn't know which sp item to change and picks the first one it finds.

But it also means that all events have to be dealt with by automate and since Bookings triggers about 3 events (or more) every time a new appointment is made it, works once then sets the sp item to cancelled the next run.

If I knew why bookings was generating multiple calendar events without any requests, and if there was a way to stop it, it would help.

I think there must be some MS Bookings workflow running every 2 minutes that I have no control over.

I set the trigger to use my own calendar in outlook instead of bookings and the same thing is happening so it's the calendar that's making changes to itself, not bookings. Sometimes the calendar makes several changes to itself minutes after I add an event

I did a text compare of the output of both events

Here's when I added the event

And here's where it decides to trigger another event 2 minutes later for no apparent reason
