Flow from Person/Group Column to Single Line of Text Column

Hello,

It's my understanding that I cannot reference a Person/Group column in a Calculated Column in MS Lists, so the solution I'm using is to create a flow that populates a Single Line of Text Column with the DisplayName from the Person/Group column.

I was wondering if someone could look at my flow and let me know if my flow is efficient and also, I need help adding another condition to where if a Person was already assigned to an item, and then I remove them, the flow should run to delete the previous DisplayName.

Hi @as733y ,

If I understood your logic correctly, then you need to update single line text field with display name if the users in person field, right?

If above is the case, then your above logic is not efficient and might not work properly.

You don't need the last apply to each loop.
You can directly use SP update action and provide the varDisplayName variable value in the single line text.

If the name id already assigned and want to remove the previous value, then also it will work properly.

Thank you so much for the valuable input.

Yes, basically I would have 3 conditions
Person Field is populated with Person A, so the Single Line Text needs to be populated with Person A
Person Field that is populated with Person A is changed to Person B, so the Single Line Text needs to be updated to Person B.
Person Field that is populated with Person A is removed and Person Field is blank, so the Single Line Text needs to be blank.

I've tested with the below updates you mentioned, and I believe everything is working as requested!
