Power Automate Hosted RPA Schedule Using Unattended Bot And Hosted Machine Groups

We have a requirement for PAD and decided to go for Power Automate Hosted RPA. Is there additional infra cost if I go for this for running VM? If I use hosted machine groups what is the maximum number of bots that I can use? Also, what determines the number of bots in a hosted machine group(Is it based on my purchase unattended bot license). How can I schedule PAD desktop flows using unattended flows? Also, I could see some tutorials spinning up there on VM on Azure and installing Power Automate what's the advantage of that approach compared to Hosted RPA?

    Hello

I would definitely recommend that you speak to your account rep or license folks. The answers aren’t all straight forward and based on deals etc you get it’s impossible for us to give concrete answers.

    yes hosted costs more

it’s really up to you and what your needs are if you want your own VM or managed hosted solution

i want to make sure you get accurate information hence my recommendation.

    Cheers

    Hi @johnantony92 ,

You can message me privately if you want to have a dedicated discussion on this topic.

    Short answers below:

Is there additional infra cost if I go for this for running VM?

VM infra costs for hosted machine group are covered as part of Hosted RPA add-on.

If I use hosted machine groups what is the maximum number of bots that I can use?

The current limit is 50, but it always depends on how many add-on you have assigned to your environment. 1 add-on = 1 bot.

What determines the number of bots in a hosted machine group(Is it based on my purchase unattended bot license).

It depends on your max bot configuration and also the no. of desktop flows queued on the HMG. Read more here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-automate/desktop-flows/hosted-machine-groups#load-balance-hosted-machine-group

How can I schedule PAD desktop flows using unattended flows?

You schedule them from a Cloud Flow calling a Desktop Flow

Also, I could see some tutorials spinning up there on VM on Azure and installing Power Automate what's the advantage of that approach compared to Hosted RPA?

Hosted RPA is generally the preferred approach as the load balancing of requests and machines are handled automatically in Power Automate. You can also create, access and manage your machines directly from the Power Automate portal itself.
