Power Pages Licensing for Education

I am reviewing the Power Pages licensing for Education and it is split out into two categories per tier:

  1. Additional Product (staff), and
  2. Student.

For Authenticated:

As staff and students are on the same AD, how will Power Pages know which users are students or staff. I can see how maybe B2C could be set up for students so that they can be identified as external users.

Non Authenticated:

If it is working on browser session id, how will know who is who? How can we calculate how many packs we need for each sku?

Thanks in advance!

    Hi @KH_2437

The simple answer is the new licensing model indicates

    1. Whether it is an internal or external user - if they are authenticated users then you pay  $200 for 100 users/site/month.

Create a web role to provide different access to pages and data.  official ink here

    2. Non -authenticated means anonymous user. They don't usually log in to the portal. They just view and go. If the bot or spammers trying to view the page, then cookies will ignore those counts.

    below are the pack details

If the total authenticated (internal + external) users are less than 100 then you can opt-in to PAYG

    Hope it helps.

    Thanks for your response!

However, the Education licenses have 2 SKUs per tier, e.g., how are the authenticated users distinguished between Student and Additional User?

As far as I can tell PowerPages aren’t really designed for individual use, they are aimed at building company websites.  Only the Azure administrator can create Azure Active Directory app’s, which is what is needed to make PowerPages.
