Can i pull an employee email to send to?

We have a SharePoint list that a manager fills out for new employees, Transfers/Rotations, offboarding, etc.  For new hires, our admins have to manually type in the new hires email so that our Welcome email will go out and that is working fine.

For Transfers and Rotations, we used to have a Nintex workflow set up which was able to automatically pull the email and send the welcome email to the person when joining their new team.  When we migrated we moved to AgilePoint workflows and this one recently stopped working and we are having issues trying to fix.  Is there a way for FLOW to connect somewhere and on the Start Date that was entered, look up email for Employee ID listed and send this email?  I think the only issue is that we will no longer be able to send the email from the Admin correct?  The email can only come from the person that created the flow?

thanks!

I'll have to take a look at the 0365 connector.  I've never done this before and still really new at this.

I've used a shared mailbox for my purposes. This may be a dumb question, but can i have a shared mailbox where I block it from people sending to it?  I've never tried that.   The main person dealing with the Personnel moves doesn't want to have to check another InBox outside of her own.

the manager fills out the sharepoint list with all of the employee details for the person transferring or doing a rotation in their center.  (Name, EMployee ID, STart Date, Cost Center, Job Role, Safety for training needs...)  We do not have them enter the email as it wasn't needed before.  Is there a way to pull that from anywhere so that the email can again be automatically sent on the start date?

    Hi @DCNehs ,

Could you share more details on Transfers and Rotations? Are they of type person or group?

Do you want to find out employees based on the Start Date?

Please share more details for better understanding.

    Best regards,

    Mabel

If the SharePoint list item is using a person field then Flow can get the email address from that field. If item only has an employee id and that ID is used in the user account then you can use the O365 User connector to lookup the user by employee id and get the email address.

You can also set-up a shared mailbox and configure the mail in the Flow to use the shared mailbox to send out the email, so the email doesn't look like it came from the Flow owner.
