'Test Connection Failed' on Send Email (SharePoint Online)

Getting 'Test Connection failed' when trying to fix the connection for Send Email. For every other connection in my flow it connects using the same account. The account is site administrator for the site in question.

The field Send As is being used. Does this mean that the account used to connect to SP needs to be given permissions on the mailbox that it is trying to send from?

Help please!

Regards,

C

That is exactly what it means.  To put a different user in the FROM box on an email in Flow requires that theuser running the Flow have Send As permission for the mailbox being used in the FROM. The site admin will need Send As permission for any account added in the FROM box.

    Hi Pstork1,

Just had my admin add Send As permission on the mailbox being used in the From and it still says 'Test Connection Failed' for the Send Email stage used in the Flow.

    Any ideas?

Are you saying that the admin added your account with Send as permission to that mailbox?  And the connector is using your account for the connection?  If so, I would remove and re-add the email action in the Flow.  They can sometimes be tricky about picking up on security changes.

    Hi PStork1,

If I remove the Send Email step and then re-add a new one, even before I type anything in it says Test Connection failed. I've fixed all the connections elsewhere in the flow and fixed all the connections on the connection list.

Not sure what else to suggest.  Definately a permissions issue on the connector though.  Is the mailbox being used in Exchange Online or on-premises?  This connector won't work with on-premises Exchange.

    Hi, It's SharePoint Online.

Understood, but is your organization in a hybrid environment that uses Exchange on-premises or fully Office 365?  SharePoint doesn't have a capacity to send email.  It uses the Exchange setup for the mailbox you are specifying.  It matters where that mailbox is.

Can you tell me what type of connector it should be to be able to use Send Email. Office 365? If I try to add that Connector it says:

    gsdfgdsfg.PNG

Which can't be correct because the flows were working up until the 2nd October, (7 days ago).

Hi - no it's not a hybrid setup it's completely Office 365, SharePoint Online. Exchange Online not hybrid.

    PStork1,

Do you know what type of license is needed for this mailbox? At the moment it's a standard 'student' one.

Thanks for your attention and help so far.

    REgards,

    C
