Is my Power App possible?

Hello, so I'm new to PowerApps, but a veteran to other Office applications (PowerBI, PowerQuery, PowerPivot, Excel, VBA, etc).

And before spending some time to learn PowerApps, I want to actually understand if my goal is possible.

Attached are 2 files, 1st one is a draft of how I want the Table relationships to be + general look of the final application with it's functionalities. The 2nd one is the actual database with all of the tables on each sheet.

So my question is: Is it possible to build everything I specified? If not, to what extend can I build it? What are my restrictions?

(All the confidential information is redacted, and the monetary values are all fake)

Thanks to whomever helps me!

    Hi @jomaor1 ,

Yes this is possible. The main limitation you may run into is that the visuals in PA are quite basic. However, you can insert PowerBI tiles to cover that part.

Hi @jomaor1  yes it is possible but it will take some work. your charts is not out of the box, either components you have to create which have lots of documentation and the power cat team have a nice repo on github to assist you.

    • Collections and joining the tables to get your schema is possible.
    • Dropdowns in table headers is not available and you will have to use comboboxes/dropdowns in conjunction with a gallery or datatable but you can do it.
    • Editable column names is something you need to be more specific about: Power apps does give you the functionality to have your own header name and you can build component to change headers in tables, not available out of the box.

In sort everything is possible but you will have a learning curve.

    Hope it helps,

    R

Hi B, thanks for the reply,

Unfortunately my company doesn't support PowerBI...

Hi R, thanks for the response,

No problem for me if I have to learn a lot! Just couple of questions:

    • Is the join of the Tables possible similar to PowerPivot/PowerBI ?
    • About the dropdown, it's not the header, but the cell itself of every record. Kinda like Data validation lists in Excel, so the user only can fill with the set values on back-end.
    • About the Charts, is it possible to create such custom Visuals with Multiple Columns (Stacked and non stacked) also with Lines?

    Thanks!

    hi @jomaor1

    • Is the join of the Tables possible similar to PowerPivot/PowerBI ?
      • Not as complex or sophisticated but principles are the same (its good to get away from M and DAX at times 🙂 ). I am inclined to say if you are good with those then the Power Apps is easier. you do not have a modelling environment however to build your model.
      •  Lookup based on unique identifiers
    • About the dropdown, it's not the header, but the cell itself of every record. Kinda like Data validation lists in Excel, so the user only can fill with the set values on back-end.
      • yes you can do that. a gallery will be the way to go then.
    • About the Charts, is it possible to create such custom Visuals with Multiple Columns (Stacked and non stacked) also with Lines?

With the charts it all comes down to the visual experience vs functionality.

    Regards,

    R
