Create Check In Check Out on Inventory - Toggle Switch

Hello,

To provide some context. I am transporting equipment for an event. This equipment is collected from either the office or storage. To ensure the equipment is loaded onto the van, we decided we should create an inventory list where we can view all our equipment, and to determine if it is on the van or if it is somewhere else.

I have managed to set up a sharepoint list, and I've used the Power Apps default template which works fine.

However I want to create a form of check in check out functionality. I have found a toggle switch, so I've included this.

But when I toggle the switch to on or off, it immediately takes me to the page of the item, which I don't want it to do. I just want it simply to toggle on or off and not take me to another page.

Is there a way around this.

Also, any suggestions with regards to this, would be much appreciated.

BTW I am a total noob to this, so would appreciate it a non-technical response!

Yes, the default configuration when placing a new control in a gallery is that, "Select(Parent)" is included in the OnSelect property of the control. This is helpful in some situations, but not yours, because it triggers the OnSelect property of the gallery itself which is to Navigate() to the other screen.

Remove "Select(Parent)" from the OnSelect property of the toggle and it should stop doing that.

Thank you, this did solve the problem.

However I've discovered another issue following this. Once I toggle it 'on', if I were to refresh the app / close it, it would reset the toggle status to 'off'. How would I go about ensure it only switches back to off if manually done by a person

To do this, you will need to add a "yes/no" column to your SharePoint list and save any changes to the toggle back to the list so that you can recall the value another time. There are lots of posts on here about updating datasources, but here are the basic steps:

Add the new yes/no column to the list

Open your app for editing, or refresh the SharePoint list in the data sources if you already had it open

Set the Default property of the toggle to "ThisItem.myNewColumnName"

In the OnChange property of the toggle put:

Patch(myDatasource, //put in the proper name of your list LookUp(myDatasource, ID = ThisItem.ID), //identifies which row to update {myNewColumnName: Self.Value} //put in the proper name of your column )

This will save the last value of the toggle back to the list each time it is changed.
