Hi There,
I have 30 cloud flows with type "Automated". The workflow purpose for usual business approval such as business trip, invoicing, etc.
All of the workflows need a premium connector.
It stated on the Microsoft documentation:
Automated and scheduled flows always run in the context of the flow owner regardless of who starts the flow or what accounts are used for connections inside of the flow. Instant flows (button, hybrid triggers) run in the context of the user who invokes them, regardless of the connections used in the flow. If an automated or scheduled flow uses a premium connector, only the owner needs to have a Premium license.

My question, if the statement is correct, then i just need to purchase 1-30 premium license, right?
Appreciate any help to answer my concern.
Thanks,
Yes I know. MS Licensing is very confusing. I suggest you speak to a specialist.
Hi @SudeepGhatakNZ ,
Yes, of course we avoid any violation.
I just refer to this statement from Microsoft Documentation:
Automated and scheduled flows always run in the context of the flow owner regardless of who starts the flow or what accounts are used for connections inside of the flow. Instant flows (button, hybrid triggers) run in the context of the user who invokes them, regardless of the connections used in the flow. If an automated or scheduled flow uses a premium connector, only the owner needs to have a Premium license.
But have no idea how practically to execute.
Thanks
Hi @TovanOF ,
That could be treated as a licensing violation. Better consult MS support for clarification.
What you are attempting to do can be seen as multiplexing
Multiplexing refers to the use of hardware or software that a customer uses to pool connections, reroute information, or reduce the number of users that directly access or use the Power Apps, Power Automate, and the Power Virtual Agents service. Using multiplexing as a mechanism to reduce the number of licenses to be purchased is a license violation

Hi @SudeepGhatakNZ ,
Thank you for your response.
My first intention is since i used an "automated" type flow (not instant type flow) and all 30 workflow need a premium connector, thus i just need purchase premium license for the flow owner (let say there is a 5 flow owners of 30 workflows, then i just need to purchase 5 power automate premium license / premium per user plan), but not all users (this 30 workflow is used by est. 300 employees).
Thanks,
@TovanOF ,
There are two options to chose from in my opinion
1) You either buy a flow license (Power Automate per flow plan)
2) Or you buy a user license (Power Automate per user plan)
Depending on what turns out cheaper, you can make your decision.
Scenario, all 30 flows are meant to be used by 10 users. User licenses will be better
all 30 flows to be used by a company of 1000 employees, per flow plan will be best.
Per flow licenses need to be procured for each power platform environment, so add that in your calculations.
