Get connected row in Dataverse

Hi,

I'm trying to get out the asset (from the Dataverse Asset table) that is connected to an installation (from the Dataverse Installation table). I have tried multiple rows form the installation table, but I always get the same result.

"A binary operator with incompatible types was detected. Found operand types 'Microsoft.Dynamics.CRM.cgi_installation' and 'Edm.String' for operator kind 'Equal'."

But I don't know how to get out the Microsoft.Dynamics.CRM.cgi_installation type from the Installation table. Anyone know?

    Hi @TonjeWaasjo

I would need to see the Table itself, so I can see what the format of the Column is (cgi_instggallation) so I can tell you how to convert it, if its a Choice(s), or lookup or what

    Cheers

    Hi @FLMike ,

Thanks for your answer. It is a lookup column

    TonjeWaasjo_0-1696488274123.png

In the Asset table, it is the lookup column Installation that is the connection

I have found out that the 'Get Installation' table gives me and url as part of the body in the Output. "cgi_AssetInstallationIMO_InstallationId_c@odata.navigationLink": "https://customer.crm4.dynamics.com/api/data/v9.1/cgi_installations(r34530s3-dos4-ik73-b034-00023kw987sd)/cgi_AssetInstallationIMO_InstallationId_c".

This is an object that holds the value I am looking for, the cgi_name.

But how do I get it out of the url that is in the body?

    Hi @TonjeWaasjo

Its actually super simple now that I know its a lookup.

    You want to use the

Get a row by ID (dataverse action)

    FLMike_0-1696611264791.png

In the action, for the Table Name put the Asset table now (Select it)

For the ID you need to use the _Value Dynamic property from your Apply to each loop.

Here is what I need you to do

    1. In your Apply to each loop. I need you to DELETE the Get Asset. Please delete it.

    2. Once you delete that, I want you to Add the "Get a row by id" Dataverse Action, that I explained up top

    3. I want you to Set the table name to the Asset table.

    4. For the Row ID here is what i need you to do

Click inside the Box, where you would type it. This will cause the Dynamic Property Window to popup

    Like this Example

    FLMike_2-1696611783842.png

I need you to give me a screen shot of ALL the properties that are underneath the Get a row by Id action in the Property window. Please scroll down and grab them all. Dont miss any.

I have TableA and TableB. I have a relationship from A to B. I created a Column in TableB Called TableA_TableB for the relationship.

in the properties I need to find the property called TableA_TableB (Value) <== is the GUID pointing to Table A and is what I use in my Get a Row by ID

For you we are looking for the (Value) that matches your Lookup column Name in the installation table. Thats why I need all the properties screenshotted so I can tell you which one it is for sure.

Here is an image of mine in the Property window:  NOTE i had to scroll down to get to it.

    FLMike_3-1696611966561.png

Now that I have that correctly set in the Action

    FLMike_4-1696611998179.png

I added a Compose underneath it. I want to grab the Description Column from TableA. This is JUST like you want to grab the URL from Asset Table. Asset Table = My Table A in this example

After adding I click in the Compose input box, and the Property Box comes up.

I have to find my Get a row by ID action (I renamed mine) and scroll down until I find the Description Dynamic Property. You would be looking for the URL Dynamic Property.

    FLMike_5-1696612101539.png

    And I click it

    FLMike_6-1696612112923.png

    Now I run my Flow

And you can see here that I DID retrieve the Description from Table A (Aka Asset Table), by using my Relationship Table (Value) as the INput to the RowId in Table A, Get a row by id

    FLMike_7-1696612242740.png

If you do the same yours will work fine.

I would be grateful if you marked this solution as Resolved/Answer and maybe even a Thumbs Up

    Hi @FLMike,

I don't think I have a column like this. There is no columns that has "Asset" in them at all.

I know that the Asset table has a column for the lookup in the Installation table, but not the other way around. Here is a list of the columns of type lookup:
