Parse JSON Error

Hello,

I am in the process of writing a HR offboarding flow. The error message reads "Action 'Parse_JSON' failed", but it doesn't give any reason why it might have failed. I'm following the same steps as in my HR onboarding flow which works fine.

I've confirmed that the items that I am attempting to retrieve are in the list and that there are no additional columns.

The value is coming from 'Get Items 2'.

The Compose step results in a Distinct list of email recipients as desired.

I ran the flow after the Filter Array step and copied the body of the successful flow run. I added a Parse JSON step and inserted the Body of the Filter Array step in the Content field and then clicked on the Generate from Sample button and pasted in the payload from the successful run. I then added a 'Create HTML Table' step so it is easier to see the results. The flow breaks each time at the Parse JSON step. Any idea what I might be doing wrong? As previously mentioned, I've been carefully checking the SharePoint list settings and list content for clues and haven't been able to find anything amiss. Just wondering if there is a best practice rule of thumb for dealing with mystery issues like this. Thank you. Teresa

Have you looked at the output of the filter array action to see if you are getting any output?  And if that output is in the same format as the get items?  If its working as far as the filter array you should be able to see the output you are trying to parse when the parse json fails.

    Hello Paul,

Thank you for the reply. I apologize for the delay in response. I've been battling a virus this week. I've looked at the filter array outputs and it is returning the list of tasks for each individual. It's just the parse json step that is going off the rails so I'll try again this weekend in case there was just some sort of temporary glitch. I've used this method successfully before and the fact that flow isn't offering any clues as to what might be going wrong makes me wonder if something got corrupted along the way. If it doesn't work again, I'll let you know if flow offers any helpful clues as to why its not working.

    Have a good day!

    Hello Paul,

I worked on the flow again this weekend and it suddenly worked even though I didn't change anything so it must have been a glitch in the "matrix" somehow. Have a great day!
