Power Automate & Microsoft 365 Copilot to modify Microsoft Word (?)

Hello,

Can I use Power Automate and MS365 Copilot to make logic-driven changes to a Word template file stored in SharePoint?

I want something more robust and flexible than a simple string search/replace. I’m looking for an AI alternative to document automation software that uses natural language instructions to modify an existing Word template.

Ideally, the AI should have some context or instruction on how to understand input and make changes to only a few paragraphs of the document based on that input.

The logic won’t be complex.

This is what is available to Power Automate through the AI builder functions: AI Builder in Power Automate overview - AI Builder | Microsoft Learn. Your question sounds like you are asking about the Copilot license for Microsoft 365, which is not the same thing and cannot be accessed through a workflow. You can get information on that at AI Productivity Tools for Microsoft 365 | Microsoft 365 .

With a Microsoft 365 Copilot license, you can create documents based on content within your Microsoft 365 tenant. For example, with this prompt, "Draft a paper on the topic of password security" I just generated a Word document outline of our company's password policies from content I have access to within our domain, which obviously I cannot share here.
