Version Control with PowerAutomate Desktop - how can you do it?

Hi,

There appears to be no way to export a PAD flow directly from the client, but Solutions seem to be the answer for this. However, after creating a Solution and adding a PAD flow to it, there does not seem to be any components within the exported .zip that could be used for robust version control other than adding versioned .zip files relying on good commenting from the developer.

Am I missing something? I would hope to find some serialized (but understandable) version of the flow within such that a person could do meaningful file-diffs, merge changes with collaborators, etc.

The files I found within the .zip were none of which had any understandable representation of actions within the flow.

  • customizations.xml
  • solution.xml
  • [Content_Types].xml
  • PAD_Flow_Name-GUID.json

    Hi,

This is never seeming easier than because now Solution is the only way you can manage your Flows, PowerApps, ... (Power Platform components).

You can prefer here for more information, there MS mentioned how you can use Version control and also Azure Devops for the automation of the Power Platform.

Application lifecycle management (ALM) with Microsoft Power Platform

Thanks and hope it can help you.
