Power App - Why do we need Premuim License

We have developed a Power App that doesn't use any premium connectors, with the intention of making it accessible to O365 users without requiring a premium license. However, the app is being flagged as premium.

The app integrates with a Power Automate flow that connects to Dataverse. This flow is triggered from within the Power App, and its output is simply displayed in the app. The development account used to create this flow has a Power Automate Premium license.

My question is: Since the Power Automate flow is called from within a Power App that does not directly use any premium connectors, does this still classify the app as premium, requiring users to have a premium license? We have raised this issue with Microsoft and received the response below.

I find the response reasonable but would like to hear your thoughts and suggestions

Here is the response received from the Microsoft team.

Power Automate Integration: Your Canvas app uses a Power Automate cloud flow to retrieve data from Dataverse. Since Power Automate flows that interact with Dataverse are considered premium connectors, users need a Power Apps Premium license to use these features.
Upgrade Licenses: Ensure that all users who need to access the app have the appropriate Power Apps Premium licenses.
Share the App: Confirm that the app is shared with users who have the necessary licenses, ensuring they have the appropriate permissions to use both the Canvas app and the associated Power Automate flows.

I believe we would not be able to follow this approach, If I disconnect the flows from Power Apps and Use SharePoint... We will not be able to show the data which is being retrieved from Dataverse... Updating sharepoint again will be double work and not a best practise..

The use case which we are working is Group Approval process, where user needs to see the number of groups that need to approve..

Yes, if the app has premium flows in it, it will be flagged as Premium. One way to solve this could be investigating how else can we trigger the flow from the app indirectly. For example, you can use a SharePoint list. Add a row to a SP list on the OnSelect of the button and we can use this as the trigger in Power Automate (SharePoint - when an item is added or modified). There could be a better to solve this as well but I don't the entire architecture of your solution.

    Hope this helps.

    Kind regards,
