Model-driven app: One specific user does not get left navigation bar displayed

I experience a very weird behavior for one specific user. This person does not get the left navigation bar of a model-driven app displayed, although having exactly the same rights and being in the same security control group.

I'm not sure, if this issue is related to the fact, that this user as only one does not get the app displayed in the <company-url>.dynamics.com/apps overview (see screenshots).

I already reviewed this article (although limited to mobile and tablets, in my case this problem appears on a normal PC) without resolving the issue: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/dynamics-365/sales/we-cannot-find-any-apps-your-role

All employees of my company have the same (basic) power apps license by default, and the app does not use premium connectors, but my suspicion still is that it's a license issue, as all other parameters are so identical.

Thanks for any hint!

    Hello @UlricusR,

The problem may be that the user does not have access to the app itself. When you say the user cannot see the navigation bar, how has the user accessed this app? Through a link, or have they opened a record directly?

Since it is a model-driven app, which is built on Dataverse, it will require premium licenses. But that should apply to the other users in your org as well.

Hi @joe_hannes_col , the user access the app by a link I sent them and which I configured with the app name as alias before (<company-url>.dynamics.com/apps/<appname>). The specific user gets presented the entry table and he can navigate around the whole app using the relation links within single forms / views and also make edits, only the sidebar is missing. That's why I'm so puzzled. I also compared the M365 license package of this user with the ones others have, and I cannot find a difference.

Hi @UlricusR, I still suspect that the user does not have the correct privileges. When you say that all users have "the same rights and being in the same security control group", does that mean that you have double-checked whether the user has the security role that the model-driven app is shared with?

@joe_hannes_col , exactly, the specific user has the same security role.

    Hi @UlricusR,

Could you please check if this particular user is also an active user in the environment? That's probably a long shot, since they are seeing data...

Hi @joe_hannes_col , sorry for the long waiting time, but it indeed is a license issue. The user does now, as he has the per App license, see the navigation bar.

What still strikes me is that the user actually could see Views and Forms and also edit data in the Forms without having the license (of course I had to add him as user and give him the appropriate role). The only difference was the missing navigation bar. Anyhow - I think I do not need to understand this, so all fine...

    Thanks for your efforts!
