Approval Flow - hierarchy upto a certain level

Traversing hierarchy upwards until a certain level is reached.

I am designing an approval flow. In the current scenario, I need to email everyone up to a certain level of hierarchy for approvals. For example, if a developer request approval, it should go to his manager, sr.manager, director until the COO level is reached.  However, if a manager request approval it should go to his sr.manager, director until the COO level is reached. Is it possible to do using Microsoft flow?

I have the same question (0)

    Hi @bibinisacmohan,

What is the difference between a developer and a manager so we would figure out if the requestor is a developer or a manager?

    Best regards,

    Alice

It is the JobTitle. For a developer, it will be 'developer' or 'sr developer'. But for managers, it will be 'manager' or 'sr manager'.

However, the problem with the flow is that we cannot traverse the hierarchy upwards until the JobTitle = 'X'.

Basically, this is how I am trying to make it work.

Get user profile v2 to find out the current users principal name. Then use the GetManager to find out the manager. Check whether the manager's JobTitle = 'x'.  This works, but I have to predefine the number of levels I have to check. Looking for a way to make it traverse dynamically.

    Thanks,

    Bibin
