Update a Column when text/date inputted into another column

This maybe really simple but google is confusing me.

I originally tried setting up a flow that was triggered when a item was modified but it tends to be updating items when I don't want it updated!

I have the below list.

Basically when the Action box is no longer blank/and there is text in there I want the status to update to 'In progress'.

When the date is put in the closure date column, I want the status to update to Closed.

Any help is much appreciated.

Okay, so this action is using one list, and you want to update the list when a item is added or changed in the same list.  I would use the following:

    • When an item is created or modified
    • Get items

Then use the switch with two cases

    • Action
    • Closure

For each of the above there would be:

Condtion - that would test the date entry in the action or closure colums based on contents of the list item being in place.  So does the date exist in the item.

Then update item and put in the status column you need.

Please come back to me when you have managed to plug all the above in and test it.

    Regards,

Sorry my fault, switch will not work, try two paralle branches instead.

So where you see the case above that is where the condition needs to start.

But do carry on an learn about Switches, they are supper helpful where you might have a single status column and if you make a change from status to another then it updates certian things indiviually.  If you update your list design you could use the Switch.  But lets stick with the paralle branch for now.

    Regards,

    Andrew
