How to switch to new designer in Power Automate?

Since yesterday (10/07/2025), I've been having trouble switching from the old designer to the new one. The standard switch doesn't appear and changing the URL parameter from ?v3=false to true doesn't help. Does anyone know why this problem occurs and how to solve it?

Out of interest, how are you navigating to the flow and where do you press edit? Just to see if I can reproduce your issue/the behaviour.

Is it from My Flows and the edit button next to the flow? (in my case that directly opens in the v3=true interface)

Or are you accessing the edit interface via different steps?

    Happy to help out 😁

I have had exactly the same problem for a few weeks now. Really frustrating. And I call up the flow exactly via the Edit button. Even changing the “v3=true” does not change anything.

    1. URL Parameter Method (Primary Solution)

The most reliable method is manually changing the URL parameter:

    • Open your flow in the current designer

    • Look at the URL in your browser's address bar

    • Change v3=true to v3=false in the URL and press Enter to switch to classic designer EncodianAbout365

    • To switch back to new designer, change v3=false to v3=true

    •

    2. Comment Workaround (Highly Effective)

Adding a comment to any step in your flow will automatically route you back to the old designer .This is because the new designer doesn't currently support comments.

    Steps:

    1. Open your flow in the new designer

    2. Click on any action/step

    3. Add a comment to that step

    4. The flow will automatically switch to classic designer

    5.

    3. Clear Browser Cache and Cookies

    • Clear your browser cache and cookies for the Power Automate domain

    • Sign out and sign back into Power Automate

    • Try the switch again

    •

    4. Try Different Browser/Incognito Mode

    • Test in a different browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox)

    • Try incognito/private browsing mode

    • This helps identify if it's a browser-specific issue

    •

    5. Check for Microsoft Service Issues

Since this started on July 10, 2025, it might be related to:

    • Recent Microsoft updates or service changes

    • Temporary service disruptions

    • Backend changes affecting the toggle functionality

    •

    6. Alternative Access Methods

    • Try accessing flows through different entry points:

      • Direct URL with v3 parameter

      • Through Power Platform admin center

      • Through different environments if available

I tried both methods, and nothing changed. Today, not long after submitting this post and reporting the issue to Microsoft, the problem resolved itself, but I received information that my colleagues were having a similar problem.
So now the designer version change button is visible where it always is.

I have the same problem. For me it does not matter if I click edit from the list of my flows, or if I go to my flow's 'main page' and click edit from there. I have comments in my flow and it always opens in the classic mode anyway. Changing v3=true to v3=false does nothing. I don't have 'new designer' switch. Clearing cookies doesn't help. What works for me is combination of reloading the page and changing the parameters, but I need to do it over 20 times... then the flow opens in a new designer and the switch 'new designer' appears. However, the issue is fixed until I close and reopen my browser.

It is very annoying. I would appreciate if this could be fixed. I've been experiencing this issue for almost a month.

I also see this issue here. It's really annoying. All our Flow have been created with the new designer. There is no reason to use the old desinger at all. But no I'm sometimes stuck with the old one. Even if I somehow manage to get to the new one (by reloading the page, adding v3=true, then reloading again), next time I open a Flow I might be back.

Please fix this, these things are so annoying.
