Update a list based on changes in another list

I am currently looking at creating lists based on a master list.

I have created a flow which will write to a list depending on a particular field, so Truro items are copied to a Truro list and Bodmin items are copied to a Bodmin list. So far so good.

What I want to do now is to update my lists when changes are made to the master list. The problem I am having is that it needs an unique identifier. It only offers me ID. I assume this is a hidden column( mainly because i cant see it 🙂 ). I am guessing that the ID field is not copied over when my "new item flow" runs as I do not have that option. This means that the two ID fields do not match. I have created a unique field in my master list and the child lists but the flow will not let me choose it. Any ideas?

    Hi Mona,

I am with you for the first bit. I get the same issue and I understand that the ID is a hidden column which is unique to each list hence the inability to link the two items across lists. I am however unsure as to how you solved this. My main list "A" writes to a series of smaller lists "b" , "c" etc dependant on a dropdown list in one of my columns. Each time it writes to a new list the ID in that list is going to be different from the ID in the first list.

When I use the flow part for "update item" it only gives me one option "ID"

This makes no differnce when creating a new item however I am still unsure how I can update an item.

    Hi CyMarven,

I got the same result if I use ID to associate two lists in Flow. One flow will not be updated according to another one using ID as the association identifier. My understanding is that ID is a hidden column but it only exists and can be identified in the current list. For example, you have ID parameter in listA, but if you use ID in listB, it will only be recognized as the ID of listB.

    Please see my result here:

But if I us the ID parameter as the identifier in the same list, the flow will run successfully and the list will get updated.

I also tried to create list relationships by using unique columns, but I’m afraid that Flow does not support this kind of column settings so it is not shown in Flow.

    Best regards,

    Mona Li
