Hello,
There have been many partial solutions to what I'm trying to do, so instead of posting to several places, I thought I'd add a comprehensive question. Hopefully, someone can help, as I am at my wits' end. Some facts:
- Users fill in forms in Power Apps or SPO, and Power Automate flows are called for various workflow steps. All that is fine.
- We cannot use "Preview" connectors, as they are not supported by Microsoft and can be removed at any time.
- We cannot use "Premium" connectors as there are many users and we don't have the budget to procure upgraded licenses.
- We cannot use any third party connectors.
What we have so far:
- In one flow, data from the submitted SPO item (plus other sources) replace values in a Word template (stored in the SPO site's library), and (for now), saves an updated Word document in my OneDrive. Currently, this is working fine. Note that this uses a "Premium" connector. This article shows how it can be done with standard connectors but it doesn't work with Word online, so not an option for us. Any suggestions for a non-Premium method?
- The "Html to text (preview)" connector can be used (adding html to create the layout, update values from the item, etc.), however, we cannot use "(preview)" connectors for reasons stated above.
- The "Convert file (preview)" could convert the Word document to pdf, but again, it's a "preview" connector. Not an option.
- The "Convert Word to PDF" is also a "Premium" connector, but even with that I'm struggling to get it to work. It's basically converting the Word template (pre-changes) to pdf. I have the exact same configuration as this blog post. Any suggestions?
- Once the pdf is created, it is emailed to several parties (some based on conditions) and added as an attachment to the SPO list. Once that's done, the Word document and pdf will be removed from the OneDrive folder. This is ok.
For now, we're assuming we need to use the "Premium" Word online (business) connectors, but ideally, we can do this work without needed these licenses.
Any help / guidance would be greatly appreciated.
