Create a Rating Feature in PowerApps

I'm currently working on a fairly simple Video Knowledge Base PowerApps. It started out as a very simple App built on a simple SharePoint list containing a Title, URL, Description and related Service link. 

 

The app then collates youTube videos recommended by our staff that relate to a particular system. Users can then search the app to find previously curated and recommended content rather than spending time searching youTube.

 

However, the latest challenge is that we would like users of the App to be able to rate the videos (either rate from 1 to 5 or just 'Like' the video). Ideally we would then want the App to automatically calculate the average rating or total likes for the item.

 

However, I cannot for the life of me, get this to work. I cannot seem to be able to create a a feature that reads a users within the app and writes it back to the SharePoint list.

 

Any ideas on adding ratings to an app would be massively appreciated.

    Hi @danrowson,

     

    If you would like to calculate the rating for a special record, it would require you to create another table to log the rating for each user.

    Then using lookup or fitler function to "Update" the corresponding record.

     

    If for simple like, then we could work with context variable, initialize variable with value of the like number stored in SharePoint list, then,

    add a checkbox for the Like, once checked, add 1 to the variable.

    Unchecked, minus 1 from the Variable.

    Then under screen navigation, patch the Variable value into SharePoint corresponding field.
