parse csv data

Hi,

I would like to take data from a csv file attachment in an email and put it directly into a sharepoint list. I can only find operations that will take data from csv files that are in onedrive or a file system somewhere.

I would really like to avoid having to save the documents somewhere first - is there a way to take the data directly from the email attachment?

Thanks!

Power Automate doesn't natively accept parsing (using the data as though it were a table) of a CSV file. It treats it as just a single lump of text. There are numerous posts on here and elsewhere about the steps you can take to parse the file into a usable array that you could then add to a sharepoint list.

mm I've been reading into those threads and they look really useful thanks, but they all seem to parse data from a CSV thats saved somewhere - sharepoint or onedrive etc.

I cant see how to start with a csv that is in an email.

should just be a matter of get attachment contents, and dump it into a string variable. From that point on that variable will stand in for file contents on all those other posts

aaw close but not quite there...."get attachment contents" is a sharepoint action that works on list item attachments.

I looked thought the outlook actions and couldn't see one for get attachment contents 😞

Ok looks like you might be able to get the content from the when email arrives action directly. I think you used to have to layer it with a second get attachments, but a quick test just now and I was able to get the body of a small test file. Just on the email trigger, make sure under advanced options you turn on include attachments.
