Google Sheet Tab Navigation

Hello,

I just want to know what are the best way to navigate on google sheets for my automation project.

So on my flow, I can access google sheets already. Now on the google sheet, there are multiple tabs sorted by month. I need to select the previous month's tab so I can download the report. Any way I can do it? I'll be doing it on a monthly basis so it would be best if I can automatically select the previous month depending on the current month.

Thanks in advance

Any way you could simply pull it out to excel. Might be easier. Otherwise, try grabbing a selector for a tab and then see if you could modify the selector to make it dynamic by adding a variable in there, such as “Name” equals %PrevMonth%

How are you connecting to Google Sheets in Power Automate Desktop? I've done it in a cloud flow and could see writing javascript to use the sheets API but I'm unfamiliar with the PAD action you would use.

    Hello,

I am able to download it into an excel file. On the file the are multiple tabs titled as "Month Year". Now I want to be able to open a specific tab on a new excel. How should I do it? So this would be the flow:

    1. Download Report from Google Sheet as excel file (The file contains multiple tabs titled as "Month Year")

    2. Open the last month tab based on current date into a new excel

    3. Save

    Thanks in advance

Awesome. So, yes. I have an article here on how to manipulate dates into a custom text format:

    https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/power-automate-desktop-pad-best-practices-part-1-date-michael-annis

ultimately, you want something like ‘MMMM yy’ which would give you something like ‘May 23’.  Do yyyy if you want May 2023.

    So, after download to excel

    attach to excel

    get currentdatetime

    Add -1 month

    convert datetime to text

    set active sheet

now you should be on the active worksheet that you need and be able to get what you need. Good luck!
