Translation Flow

Hello,

I'm trying to create a flow, whereby when a new file (mostly docx files) is created in OneDrive folder, it is automatically translated (using Microsoft Translator V2) and the translated document is created (using Create file action) and uploaded to another file on OneDrive.

(Screenshot of Flow attached)

I've managed to create the whole flow and test it successfully. I tried uploading a Word file in the source folder and a new file was created in the target folder. But when I try to open the new file, I get a message from Word saying "Word found unreadable content in this file. Do you want to recover the contents of this document?".

I asked Copilot and tried all the suggestions I got, but none worked (screenshot of Copilot suggestions attached).

Any help would be appreciated.
T.

As far as I know, there is no built-in actions in Power Automate for extracting texts from a Word file. You can use a third-party connector, such as Encodian or even the OpenAI/ChatGPT itself, or build your own API to extract it and consume it in Power Automate. This second alternative will require some software development from your end.

A third alternative would be integrate a Desktop step in your process, where you could use Power Automate Desktop to extract the data from the .docx file and then retrieve it to Power Automate on cloud for translation. This option adds a lot of changes to your current process, but it can works if the first two are not feasible.

Thank you so much for the quick reply.

Third-party connectors aren't an option for me, either because they're paid or because using them might run counter to my company's confidentiality rules.

I tried using a Desktop step (run VBScript), but I got a message saying this violates my company's rules, so I had to stop.

In any case, I'm not sure this is worth it, since the free-of-charge translators available have very low daily limits (55000 characters), which might not be enough to translate all the documents I get in a day.

    Thank again for the help!
