Hi,
When using PowerApps to PowerBI integration, the data in the PowerApp disappears after the PowerApp browser window is closed and reopened. When I select Items from the Gallery property in the PowerApp, I receive the following error:
"PowerBIIntegration = PowerApps encountered an internal error trying to evaluate this expression"
However, the data still appears in the integrated PowerBI dashboard (both on Desktop and the web service).
Other users have reported the same problem:
And the suggested fix below works for me:
The fix involves selecting the PowerApp visual from published report on the PowerBI web service, selecting Edit from the ribbon and then selecting Edit again on the Power App visual. Doing this automatically reopens the PowerApp browser in edit mode and the data returns (if you close the browser and reopen, the data will disappear again).
In the below thread, @RezaDorrani notes that Power Apps will get data from Power BI only when the Power BI report is accessed. You cannot directly go to the PowerApp and have the data for the Power BI report show up because the connection is established only when you open the Power BI report where the PowerApp is added.
Could the Microsoft support team confirm this is expected behaviour?
Steps to reproduce the issue:
- Linked a data source in PowerBI Desktop to an Excel file held on SharePoint
- Added a PowerApp visual into PowerBI Desktop
- Added two fields into the PowerApp visual in PowerBI Desktop
- Selected “Create New” from the PowerApp Visual
- Once redirected to PowerApps, click save and enter a name for the App
- Navigate back to PowerBI Desktop and publish to the PowerBI web service
- Navigate back to the PowerApp browser window and click Refresh, then reload the App. No data will be returned.
best regards,
Ami
