Copilot training (RAG if possible)

Hello all,

I would like to train a copilot agent to analyse and draft a report for this analysis. the input is an excel table and the output would be a small report of one page.

I was wondering can we say that adding knowledge to Copilot Studio can be considered as RAG?

What would be the best way to structure my data? I was thinking about feeding the usual input (excel table) and the ouput (report). does it make sense?

if there is also some cool content about can be done on Copilot Studio, I'll be glad to  have it.

Thanks a lot :)

    Hello,

adding knowledge sources to an agent in Copilot Studio shouldn't be considered as RAG technique. I don't have access to the codebase, but I assume that it uses vector search to search for relevant data and then - it uses RAG to generate a response to the end user. RAG is a technique of generating a response from LLM. Hope that it's clear to you. :-)
Regarding data structure - I suggest you to avoid using Excel table and switch to a more reliable datasource like SP list, Dataverse table or other structured sources.
In the meantime - do you have the access to Microsoft365 Copilot? There's a Copilot in Excel which can generate really cool reports based on the data provided, here you can check out the example:

In case of any other questions, let me know. If the answer helped you, mark it, so that others can benefit from it.

    Hello,

I would recommend you to create a resource using Azure OpenAI with some GPT models available, and then use that in Copilot Studio. This excellent video by Lisa Crosbie is a must watch on how to do that step by step: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FmRmdCpnq8M

    Hope that helps!

    Hello,

I've just checked what @fchopo (thanks!) provided and unfortunately the UI changed a lot since Lisa published the video and there's no deployment to Copilot Studio directly, only web app is available, see:

You don't see that option in Azure OpenAI because you need to add your own data (files, databases, etc.).  I also wrote a blog post about that.

    Hope that helps!
