OneDrive "When file Create" trigger not firing

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by

Hi guys,

I've tried to create a simple flow to alert me when a new file is created in a OneDrive folder, but that trigger is not firing at all. I've created a similar flow using One Drive for Business and it triggered fine.

Is this a known issue, or something that might be wrong on my connection?

Thanks in advance, Wagner.

There was an issue sometime back when OneDrive trigger was failing consistently. But it seems to be working fine now.

Can you please try again and see if it works? If not, could you please share the url when you open the flow in edit mode. The url would look like: https://flow.microsoft.com/manage/flows/de296be3-f98d-4f82-a384-d6f6fd3e2a6b

    Hi mate,

I've tried again (I've actually recreated the flow, as I was discussing some other issues with connections before, so I wanted to make sure that this was not a factor). Still no joy. The same trigger works with the OneDrive for Business Connector.

    Here is the URL: https://flow.microsoft.com/manage/flows/8ad2a664-ad34-45a9-ba60-b941b6422b00

It is quite a simple flow:

The idea is to sync my own personal cameral roll with the family account, so when I take a new photo it copies it to the family onedrive, and I can remove it from my account keeping the new 5GB limit. But the trigger just don't fire for some reason.

    Cheers, Wagner.

@WSilveiraN, it looks like you have not uploaded any files to "/Pictures/Camera Roll" and that is why it appears that the trigger is not firing. Please add a file to the folder "/Pictures/Camera Roll" and check the flow run status. Let me know if that is not the case and / or it still does not work after adding a file to the folder.

    Thanks,

    Kartik

    Hi Kartik,

Sorry, forgot to tell in my last email that yes, I've uploaded a new photo on the folder after I've created the flow, so I could test ir. But just to confirm followed the steps right now:

    1) Confirmed that the flow was created.

    2) Once flow was up and running, on my device, I took a photo. Device is connected to One Drive to backup images.

    3) Confirmed that the photo has been syncrhonized to the one drive folder under Camera Roll.

After that I've monitored Checks, Sucesses and Failures for about 5-10 m and all of the triggers are showing as skipped.

I did the same yesterday, before sending the question. And also did a manual upload (in case the sync case wouldn't count as a create), but in both cases no trigger enabled.

Just to complete my investigation I've created the same scenario on a different one drive connection, but still got the same results.

    Any help welcome on this.

    Cheers, Wagner.

    Hi Wagner,

Sorry to hear that OneDrive flow is not working at all for you.

For your flow (https://flow.microsoft.com/manage/flows/8ad2a664-ad34-45a9-ba60-b941b6422b00), from system logs, the flow started monitoring your folder since "Wed, 08 Jun 2016 02:38:02 GMT" and did not find any new content in it since then. There might be some bugs due to which it is not able to pick up the latest data.

If it is fine with you, to help us debug, could you please send the following information to Kartik.Rao@microsoft.com:

    1. When you right click on a file in Onedrive and click on Details, it opens up a Details bar with an Information section. Could you please share the "Modified", "Date Created" and "Path" values for a file in that folder? Or, if you could send a screenshot of just the information section, that would be even better.

    2. The timezone that you are in - so that I can convert the above time into GMT.

Once I have the above data, I will loop in a more folks to nail down the bug and we can rollout a fix.

    Thanks,

    Kartik

I too am having a version of this issue, this time with OneDrive for Business. My flow is intended to send an email with an attachment when a file is added to a specific OD4B folder. I've created two versions of the flow with different triggers. One, when a file is created and the other for when a file is modified.

Sometimes these flows work other times not. The "Modified" flow is more consistent, meaning it works once or twice a week, even though a new file is added daily.

Also the flow as a criteria: the file name contains "call_history". The files are all named call_history_m-dd-yyyy.csv.

Also the Send email action has some details.

But the flow fails at the Trigger. The error is either, "Http request failed: the timeout was reached." or a much more elaborate:

    "<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <title>IIS 8.0 Detailed Error - 502.3 - Bad Gateway</title> <style type="text/css"> <!-- body{margin:0;font-size:.7em;font-family:Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;} code{margin:0;color:#006600;font-size:1.1em;font-weight:bold;} .config_source code{font-size:.8em;color:#000000;} pre{margin:0;font-size:1.4em;word-wrap:break-word;} ul,ol{margin:10px 0 10px 5px;} ul.first,ol.first{margin-top:5px;} fieldset{padding:0 15px 10px 15px;word-break:break-all;} .summary-container fieldset{padding-bottom:5px;margin-top:4px;} legend.no-expand-all{padding:2px 15px 4px 10px;margin:0 0 0 -12px;} legend{color:#333333;;margin:4px 0 8px -12px;_margin-top:0px; font-weight:bold;font-size:1em;} a:link,a:visited{color:#007EFF;font-weight:bold;} a:hover{text-decoration:none;} h1{font-size:2.4em;margin:0;color:#FFF;} h2{font-size:1.7em;margin:0;color:#CC0000;} h3{font-size:1.4em;margin:10px 0 0 0;color:#CC0000;} h4{font-size:1.2em;margin:10px 0 5px 0; }#header{width:96%;margin:0 0 0 0;padding:6px 2% 6px 2%;font-family:"trebuchet MS",Verdana,sans-serif; color:#FFF;background-color:#5C87B2; }#content{margin:0 0 0 2%;position:relative;} .summary-container,.content-container{background:#FFF;width:96%;margin-top:8px;padding:10px;position:relative;} .content-container p{margin:0 0 10px 0; }#details-left{width:35%;float:left;margin-right:2%; }#details-right{width:63%;float:left;overflow:hidden; }#server_version{width:96%;_height:1px;min-height:1px;margin:0 0 5px 0;padding:11px 2% 8px 2%;color:#FFFFFF; background-color:#5A7FA5;border-bottom:1px solid #C1CFDD;border-top:1px solid #4A6C8E;font-weight:normal; font-size:1em;color:#FFF;text-align:right; }#server_version p{margin:5px 0;} table{margin:4px 0 4px 0;width:100%;border:none;} td,th{vertical-align:top;padding:3px 0;text-align:left;font-weight:normal;border:none;} th{width:30%;text-align:right;padding-right:2%;font-weight:bold;} thead th{background-color:#ebebeb;width:25%; }#details-right th{width:20%;} table tr.alt td,table tr.alt th{} .highlight-code{color:#CC0000;font-weight:bold;font-style:italic;} .clear{clear:both;} .preferred{padding:0 5px 2px 5px;font-weight:normal;background:#006633;color:#FFF;font-size:.8em;} --> </style> </head> <body> <div id="content"> <div class="content-container"> <h3>HTTP Error 502.3 - Bad Gateway</h3> <h4>The connection with the server was terminated abnormally </h4> </div> <div class="content-container"> <fieldset><h4>Most likely causes:</h4> <ul> <li>The CGI application did not return a valid set of HTTP errors.</li> <li>A server acting as a proxy or gateway was unable to process the request due to an error in a parent gateway.</li> </ul> </fieldset> </div> <div class="content-container"> <fieldset><h4>Things you can try:</h4> <ul> <li>Use DebugDiag to troubleshoot the CGI application.</li> <li>Determine if a proxy or gateway is responsible for this error.</li> </ul> </fieldset> </div> <div class="content-container"> <fieldset><h4>Detailed Error Information:</h4> <div id="details-left"> <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"> <tr class="alt"><th>Module</th><td>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;ApplicationRequestRouting</td></tr> <tr><th>Notification</th><td>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;ExecuteRequestHandler</td></tr> <tr class="alt"><th>Handler</th><td>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;ApplicationRequestRoutingHandler</td></tr> <tr><th>Error Code</th><td>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;0x80072efe</td></tr> </table> </div> <div id="details-right"> <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"> <tr class="alt"><th>Requested URL</th><td>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;http://127.0.0.1:80/datasets/default/triggers/onupdatedfile?folderId=013VWDTKSBC4EK4LJAVRAJDRWYWQ37C6N4&amp;triggerstate=MTslMjM0OyUyMzE7MzswYTYwZmY1NS0wNGMyLTQ2NzItOWUxMi1jYWQzOTgyMzViOWI7NjM2MDM0OTY0OTY4MzMwMDAwOzQ0OTI5NzE4OyUyM3xUaHUsIDA3IEp1bCAyMDE2IDEzOjU0OjU2IEdNVA%3d%3d</td></tr> <tr><th>Physical Path</th><td>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;D:\inetpub\wwwroot\datasets\default\triggers\onupdatedfile</td></tr> <tr class="alt"><th>Logon Method</th><td>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Anonymous</td></tr> <tr><th>Logon User</th><td>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;IUSR</td></tr> </table> <div class="clear"></div> </div> </fieldset> </div> <div class="content-container"> <fieldset><h4>More Information:</h4> This error occurs when a CGI application does not return a valid set of HTTP headers, or when a proxy or gateway was unable to send the request to a parent gateway.     @BEC111, the flow gets executed at a high frequency (unless you have set some delays explicitly), so even though it encounters errors like "Bad Gateway" or Timeout etc, it should run fine in a subsequent execution. If, however, files are added / modified, but the flow does not trigger - this would be a cause of concern. Could you please share the url when you open the flow in edit mode. The url would look like: https://flow.microsoft.com/manage/flows/de296be3-f98d-4f82-a384-d6f6fd3e2a6b. I will loop in the relevant team to investigate further.
