Approval Workflow - Teams Application integration

Hello community,

We have an issue with Approval flow for Expense requests, where i need your input.

Db is SharePoint online custom list, where User inputs the details and adds attachment in xls/xlsx format.

Flow starts and ends successfully, BUT, we cannot make the attachment to be attached within e-mail notification as "pure" attachment.

We get a link where User must download the excel.

Can we somehow get the attachment within approval notification?

Can we get the link to Open the xls/xlsx from browser directly, instead of downloading it first?

Same applies for the Notification within Teams, attachment is missing, only link to download item is present.

    Hi @tsikitsiki

In my understanding, the attachment you want to added to email and Teams notifications of approval is from a link. And the attachment is in a sharepoint list (not a library).

If I’ve misunderstood your need, please feel free to let me know.

Currently, flow cannot get the content of a file which is an attachment in a sharepoint list (not a library). But you can add the link in approval notifications. And this will not require users to download file, but to open the file in desktop mode. If users enable editing, then the change will be saved in this online file.  So, this file is opened directly, not require downloading, but in a desktop mode.

This is the flow I’ve created for the attachment in a sharepoint list (not a library):

The whole flow is as below:

    2.3-14.PNG

The detailed steps are as below:

    2.3-15.PNG

However, if your attachment is in a sharepoint library. Then, ‘pure’ attachments can be added to approval notifications.

    Hi @tsikitsiki

    Sorry for my mistake.

Actually, there is a way to add 'pure' attachement in email notifications of approval. However, There is inherent limit in Teams notifications of approval that attachment cannot show up.

    The steps are below:

'Get attachments' is used to get the attachment name with extension.

    2.4-1.PNG

You can add URL or 'pure' attachment in email notifications of approval.

    2.4-2.png

    The dynamic contents are:

    ID (From 'Get items'): items('Apply_to_each')?['ID']

    Id (From 'Get attachments'): items('Apply_to_each_3')?['Id']

The dynamic conents 'DisplayName' and 'Attachment Content':

    'DisplayName' is from 'Get attachments'.

'Attachment Content' is from 'Get attachment content'.

But please ensure that you have enabled 'concurrency' in settings of 'Apply to each' and 'Apply to each 3':
