Custom Form showing no data + Getting your data hangup

I created a custom form using PowerApps connected to a SharePoint List. I don't have any errors but even though I have the fields below:

asaraceno_0-1645643366174.png

when I go to preview the app I get this:

asaraceno_1-1645643642375.png

I thought perhaps it was due to the list not having any information yet but when I published the form and went back to start a new item I get this:

I'm not seeing any errors that would explain this so I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

What is the Item property of your Form?  It needs to be a valid record in order for it to display any information.

I hope this is helpful for you.

    Hi!

I am still very new at PowerApps. Where would I check this?

Top Bar is where you can find all properties, also side bar on right side of screenitem.PNG

So I checked and its blank:

So that is why you are not seeing anything.  The Item property needs to reference a valid record.

Are you trying to edit a record or create records?

If you are trying to create, then put your form in New mode for the DefaultMode.

I want to create new records and then open existing records to make changes if needed. How do I correct this?

    @Anonymous

If your form is in New mode (as the Default) then you will be creating new records.

As for Editing records...well that is going to depend on how you would be selecting records to edit.

So I checked the default and it was listed in Edit. I changed that to New and it all started to work!

This is going to be used as a method of conducting Change Management. A new record will be created and sent around for approvals

    Very good!

Get familiar with the NewForm, EditForm and ViewForm functions in PowerApps.  These will change the mode of your form as needed.

Normally, for editing, you would have some way for the user to select the record to edit.  Usually through a Gallery, but it can be almost anything you want.

Oh! So I would need to create 3 forms? NewForm, EditForm, and ViewForm? I was about to contact you again and let you know that when I inputted data into the form from the list that when I clicked save nothing happened. The form is showing as an EditForm in the Tree view
