Hi all - I'm a bit confused with how to move/migrate SharePoint Online workflows to Power Automate. We have 2 Out of Office workflows that were initially created in SharePoint Designer - they are both now contained within a few SharePoint Online sites. I thought we'd be able to use the SharePoint Migration tool but looks like that is for moving on-prem flows. Since our 2 flows are in the cloud, is there a way to migrate them from SharePoint Online into Power Automate?
You cannot migrate SharePoint 2010/2013 flows to Power Automate. You need to create them over again using Power Automate actions at https://make.powerautomate.com. To create flows in Power Automate requires that you have the appropriate M365 licensing and your company has enabled the license.
Microsoft's documentation does make it sounds like there is a tool to do this, but if one exists, nobody where I work has found it. We migrated all of our flows manually. This is probably a good thing, as there are significant differences between SharePoint 2013 flows and Power Automate that you will want to become familiar with. These are just a few of them.
When a Power Automate flow is triggered, it has 30 days before it times out and stops running.
Approvals time out after 28 days.
There are no built-in escalations or e-mail reminders with Power Automate approvals.
Multiple instances of the same flow can trigger on the same item in SharePoint.
You are lucky you only have two flows rather than 100s.
