Hi Everyone,

I need some experts' opinion on PowerApps Dataverse

I have built a canvas app, SharePoint is the Datasource, I have around 16 SharePoint list currently linked to my power app.

1. what would be the easiest way to create a Dataverse tables using my SharePoint List

2. Upon migrating to Dataverse tables, how will it impact the functionality of my canvas app? Will I need to revise all formulas previously reliant on SharePoint as the data source?

could anyone please be brief on this,

Regarding question 1, the easiest way is to use the Get Data action, you can import different data sources including SharePoint lists as a new Dataverse table.

Regarding question, 2, this a broad topic for a forum post, but some key points:

    • While similar in that both are tabular data sources, Dataverse is relational whereas SharePoint is unstructured. Data types such as Choice and LookUp work very differently in Dataverse vs SharePoint. Therefore the syntax for those data types will need to be corrected. However, non-complex data types like a Single Line Text, Number, and Date do not need any changes in the Power FX.
    • Dataverse is a true relational database with support for many-to-many relationships across tables. As a result, the LookUp function does not work in the same way as a SharePoint LookUp.
    • More functions are delegable in Dataverse compared to SharePoint. In addition to the Search, In, and First functions being delegable, the "Does not Equal" ( "<>" ) operator is also delegable across multiple data types, as well as aggregate formulas such as SUM, MAX, and MIN. You should update your formulas to take advantage of this.
