Using flow in different list

Hi All,

For SharePoint List A I have developed a FLow (let's call it Flow1). This is now in a live production environment so I dont want to touch it for testing.... so I created a List B (using List A as template so structure is the same) but when I select an item in list B I can't select my Flow1.. as it seems to be "connected" to List A.

Questions:

1) is a Flow created in List A indeed only available in List A or is there a setting that makes it available in other lists?

2) if a Flow is always connected to the list it was created for, how can I make a "copy" that works in a other list?

Hi @Charles-v-D

So the Flow1 that you created for the List A (you must have put the List A in the list of the sharepoint action) and this will work ONLY for this list and not any other. For creating a copy of this flow, you can export the flow as a package and import back with a different name and then change the list name (List name B in this case). You will have to change the list in every sharepoint action that you have in this list.

The List Name is explicity specified in the Sharepoint trigger or action. You can however call, access or update mulitple lists from the same Flow, just add more actions that reference those additional lists.

In this example Flow, I am referencing multiple lists, but notice that teh List Name entry is unique for each list:

thanks for your quick answer. I understand how your suggestion would work. as my flow multiple updates it would be very cumbersome and error-prone to re-touch all actions when doing import. I have opted to simply do a copy of the flow in the same list and then all users are removed. So I can test and ones I'm happy I'll active it by adding use-only people and deactivate pevious one....

It would be nice if the import function would be enhanced with capabilities to set all those actions if the list would have similar fields...

Hi Brad,

Thanks for answering! Althouhg your answer does not really solve my question it increased my understanding of Flow.. having the ability to run a single flow that uses/updates/compares multiple items from multipe lists is usefull when I'm going to roll this out over multiple countries (single flow working on country-specific lists etc..)
