Unable to read a OneDrive File's content that was shared with me

Hi,

I am currently building a Power Automate flow that needs to access and read files located in a shared OneDrive folder. While I do have access to the specific shared folder, it is nested within other folders to which I do not have access.

When I use the “OneDrive for Business” connector in Power Automate to list or access files, it only navigates to my own root directory and does not recognize the shared folder. I also tried creating a shortcut to the shared folder within my OneDrive, but this shortcut does not appear in the list of available folders in Power Automate. Instead, it gets placed in a separate “OneDrive – Shared Libraries” section, which Power Automate doesn’t seem to recognize.

Is there an alternative solution or workaround that would allow me to access the shared folder in Power Automate—without needing to relocate the files or change the current folder structure?

Thank you in advance for your help!

You're trying to access files in a shared OneDrive folder using Power Automate, but the OneDrive for Business connector can't see the shared folder because it's not in your personal OneDrive space. Shortcuts to shared folders also don't show up in Power Automate.

    Step 1 -
Open the shared folder in your browser. Copy the full URL of the file or folder you want to access. It will look something likehttps://companyname-my.sharepoint.com/personal/john_doe_company_com/Documents/SharedFolder/Report.xlsx

    Step 2 -
From the URL, get the SharePoint site address. This is everything before /Documents. For example:  https://companyname-my.sharepoint.com/personal/john_doe_company_com

    Step 3 -
Go to Power Automate and use the SharePoint connector, not OneDrive for Business.

    Step 4 -
Use the action called Get file content using path or List folder if you want to get files from a folder.

    Step 5 -
For Site Address, click "Enter custom value" and paste the SharePoint site address you copied.
For File Path, use the rest of the path after /Documents.
    Example: /SharedFolder/Report.xlsx

    Step 6 -
Now you can use other SharePoint actions to read file content or do other tasks.

This method works as long as you have permission to the shared folder. No premium license is needed.

I tried using the URL approach with the SharePoint connection; however, I received a 'statusCode: 400' error indicating a bad request. It also stated that 'The response is not in a JSON format.
