Process to delegate the approval in Power automate

Hi Team,

We are using Microsoft Power automate for the approval process where an new item/entry got added to SharePoint the approvals would trigger using the info in the SharePoint. Currently we were looking for an option/process to delegate the approval if the current approval neither not available nor reassign the approval to someone else.

Can you help us either with the process or a document that helps to achieve this.

PS: This is little high priority as many of our internal users are asking for this option.

Thanks,

Madhusudhana

    Hi Sundeep,

Thanks for the response. I missed your response.
    I have navigated through your article/blog - https://sudeepghatak.com/delegation-in-power-automate-approval-tasks/.

The first, "Out of the box" approach do not work for us. When i going through "You can achieve more by updating the Approval tables in Dataverse", somehow i felt some steps are missing under "To delegate an Approval Task in Dataverse tables using Power Automate, update the owner as shown below". Can you take a look and suggest please?
I also have a requirement to cancel the approval. Any thoughts please?
Do power automate has API support? Can we handle both approval re-assignment and cancel using API's?

    Thanks,

    Madhusudhana

    Yes @madhu-peyyala@madhusudhanarao ,

I will review my blog in case the steps have changed.

Cancelling a workflow is possible. Follow the steps in this video

Cancel any approval in Power Automate (youtube.com)

    Hi Sundeep,

I have gone through this video already, The process mentioned in the video is manual. I am looking for automating the process using scripting (python etc...,).

    Thanks,

    Madhusudhana

    Hi @SudeepGhatakNZ,

Did you get a chance to check the missing steps in the blog. Please provide the steps to proceed further.

One Question: Do Power Automate support API, to handle this scenario instead of directly dealing with DB/Dataverse tables.

    Thanks,

    Madhusudhana

    Hi @SudeepGhatakNZ ,

I went through Cancel An Approval In Power Automate (matthewdevaney.com). Even this has a dependency of Dataverse which is again a manual step.

Let me clearly explain what i am looking at. Can you help whether we can achieve or not. If we can achieve, please provide some process/steps/doc to achieve it.

    Our Requirement
    :

    1. We have UI where when an user create a request it will go for the power automate approval process. Based on the approval (approved/rejected) we will process the request.

    2. Now we want to give a button called "Cancel" within the UI where when user clicked that button, the automation that we are looking to implement has to auto fetch the appropriate ApprovalID and cancel that approval without any manual/user intervention.

We are in the critical path, and already delayed in implementing this. Can you help here please.

    Thanks,

    Madhusudhana
