UIFlowservice CPU usage

Hello all,

I've used PA in the cloud for quite a while, and am just testing out PA Desktop.  I like the capabilities, but I notice that it installs a service on my machine called UIFlowservice.exe that runs all the time and eats up 15% of my CPU.

I went into the settings and tried to set it so that PA would not run in the background after I closed it (I'm not doing any unattended flows so it doesn't need to run when I'm not using it) but the service is still there, chewing through my battery.  I can kill it using the task manager, but it comes back after a restart.

Has anyone else noticed this behavior?  Anything I can do to stop it?

Thanks.

I have the same question (0)

Add a command prompt to kill PowerAutomate.exe or whatever it is at the end of each bot.

I'm not seeing the CPU drain you are from UIFlowService.  Mine is usually at around 0.1% even when I'm editing a Desktop flow.  You might want to try removing and re-installing it.  What OS are you running PA Desktop on?

I'm running it on Windows 10 Enterprise.  Already removed and re-installed - also tried installing under another user.  Same situation each time.

Then I think you will need to open a support ticket with Microsoft.  I don't think that is the expected CPU load for that background service.

I put in a ticket, and Microsoft confirmed that they observed this behavior in a number of other user's machines as well.  They filed a report to get it fixed.

In the meantime, if you stop the service in Task Manager rather than trying to end the task, it will not come back by itself.  So I'm doing that to save my battery until the fix is released.  Thanks for the help.

@Jronash Did you ever get a resolution here? I'm having the same problem. I see you "put in a ticket"  Where did you put that in at?  Has a new version come out which resolved the issue?

This is a constant state for me (though sometimes it goes higher)

Hi @lordneeko - I was told that the issue would be fixed in the next version of PA Desktop.  However, when I installed it I was still seeing high CPU usage.

I'll admit that I didn't follow up after that - I had several possible methods of solving the problem I was working on, and finally got tired of killing the PA Desktop processes and just uninstalled the thing.  Haven't tried again since.

If you haven't tried upgrading to the newest version, that might be your best shot.  If you're already on the newest version and have the time and energy, you could try opening another ticket.

Thanks for the response @Jronash . where can I open the ticket at?

I think I opened mine in the Power Platform admin center.  Your situation may differ depending on your license.
