Hi,

I am trying to test a flow created by me using SQL server and Power BI Workspace.

the dataset is having few rows only, i am trying to test Power BI dataset for "Add a row in Dataset".

When i click on test, it is showing me error as "Flow run timed out because the starting action was not performed. Please try again".

The run is not completed.

Any help would be highly appreciable.

Regards
Satish

    Hi @Satish_Kumar ,

    How long does the flow run before it pop out the error message?

    Are you sure the error is related to "Add a row in Dataset"? According to its statement, seems like the flow got stuck at the trigger. Please check flow running history and ensure the trigger action is done.

    Hi @v-wenjuan-msft

    I have not exactly calculated the time but it runs for 5-7 mins. and then it shows error.

    I have connected Power BI with "Add a row in Dataset" service.

    There is no flow running history available, since i am testing it for the first time.

    Can you tell me how to check the whether the trigger action is done or not?

    Regards

    Satish

    Hi @Satish_Kumar ,

    If there's no running history available, it should means the flow not being triggered at all.

    What trigger do you use for this flow?

    For example, if the trigger you use is "When status of a goal changed(Preview)", you will have to check whether there's such a operation happened in Power BI.

    Hi @v-wenjuan-msft

    I am using an SQL trigger "Add rows to a dataset in Power BI when an item is Modified in SQL Server".

    and i am testing the flow after updating SQL table, still the test is not executing.

    I doubt whether the connection between SQL server and the flow has been established or not.

    Because when i am clicking on dropdown for database name selection it is giving me an error as

    "Could not retrieve values. The dynamic invocation request failed with error: {
    "status": 401,
    "message": "Credentials are missing or not valid.\r\n inner exception: The credentials provided for the SQL source are invalid. (Source at rtf-sql-db.database.windows.net.)\r\nclientRequestId: dsdkdmdsmsms",
    "error": {
    "message": "Credentials are missing or not valid.\r\n inner exception: The credentials provided for the SQL source are invalid. (Source at rtf-sql-db.database.windows.net.)"
    },
    "source": "wwweeee.p.azurewebsites.net"
    }."

    I am connecting and On-prem database through Azure AD Integrated, i have tried to connect with SQL server Authentication as well, but it is also giving me error as

    "Test connection failed. Details: Microsoft SQL: Cannot open server "xxx.com" requested by the login. The login failed. clientRequestId: zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz"

    Regards

    Hi @Satish_Kumar ,

    Seems like the issue caused by the invalid connection, refer to this link for guidance of creating an accessible connection:
