Using Power Automate to send SMS messages when a specific date occurs.

Hi,

A client of mine is wondering if it possible to send SMS messages automatically to customers when they are due for a check up based off the last date they got a check up (2 years after that date).

I automatically thought of Power Automate but do not have a huge amount of experience with it yet. Does this sound like possible to do in Power Automate? I have been searching online & youtube but can't see any similar cases.

    Hi @Shaunbuckleyy1

You can send an SMS from power automate using a third party connector. You can follow this blog as it has the connectors and services and how you can use them for sending an SMS from Power Automate https://sharepains.com/2018/12/07/send-an-sms-flow-power-automate/

    Hope this Helps!

Hi @yashag2255 , thanks for coming back.

I am aware it is possible to send SMS text messages using API's but what I can't seem to figure out is if it is possible to send the text messages using a date rule. For example, if customer A last got their check up 729 days ago, I want Power Automate to send an SMS on the next day (2 years since the last check up) to remind the customer their checkup is now due.

    Hi @Shaunbuckleyy1

In that case, you need to maintain the data in either a sharepoint list or a dataverse table with the patient name, phone number and the last checkup date.

You can setup a flow that runs on a recurrence and gets the data from the datasource with a filter query that would fetch all records where last checkup is greater than 729 days and send an SMS to them.

    Hope this Helps!

Could I use just an excel sheet instead of SharePoint/Dataverse?

And how do I perform the filter query element? Would I do this in the flow creation as a 'rule'?

If the SMS address has an email gateway, you can use an email connector and send the message to the email address. For example, SMS to a Tmobile phone is ##########@tmomail.net
