This has always been something I disliked with PowerApps on mobile. The black bars top and bottom of the screen for Canvas apps.
By disabling scale to fit and lock aspect ratio, we can reduce the size of the black bars, but not eliminate them. So to make an app "appear" fullscreen you could fake it by designing the app in darkmode with black as a primary background colour.
There is now an option under Upcoming features called Optimize for devices. What this appears to do is render the app natively on the OS rather than showing a WebView.
The advantage here is we can colour those top/bottom bars as their colour now follows the page background colour. Finally we can have "full" screen apps with any colour, not just black.
There are some negatives. I don't understand how SVGs work now. I have one svg image inside a gallery which is inside a container (large image of a floor plan, done to allow scrolling across the image) and it shows. However SVGs elsewhere (small icons etc) don't work. I need to use PNGs. Also buttons inside a gallery inside a container also don't work for me. So I redesigned the app to remove them.
I've waited for this feature for at least 4 years. Finally it's here!
