Get user profile (V2) fails, returns microsoft.sharepoint.client.resourcenotfoundexception

Hi, we've had a flow running happily for over a year triggered by a new user being added to a group.

The UID of the new account in the group is used by Get User Profile (v2) to return the user name etc. Later actions update lists, send emails etc.

At some point in the last couple of months, the action Get User Profile (v2) has stopped being able to get the details of new accounts, reporting the error:

Action 'Get_user_profile_(V2)' failed: Exception of type 'Microsoft.SharePoint.Client.ResourceNotFoundException' was thrown.

I've run some tests comparing the Get User Profile (v2) behaviour (a manually triggered flow withonly that action and a hard-coded UID or UPN) and there is clearly a difference between recently created accounts and older ones. The UIDs being passed for all our failing flows are valid. The accounts in question are enabled and licensed. A side-by-side comparison of account properties didn't find any inconsistencies.

I've also tried creating a new account copying an existing one that does work, in case something has changed in our account creation that has broken things. The copied account also failed.

Bit stumped* at this point, so any pointers for places to look would be appreciated.

Addendum - we do most account management on-prem with AD and syncing to AAD (sorry, Entra). On a hunch I created a fresh account in Entra and tested Get User Profile accessing this - it still failed, so I've ruled out some oddity relating to AD.

What is the length of time between creating a new account and running the Get user profile action?

Once an account has been created in Entra ID, objects need to be created in workload-specific directory stores, and information synchronisation needs to happen too:
    • Exchange Online Directory Services (EXODS)
    • SharePoint Online Directory Services (SPODS).
    • Viva Engage (Yammer) Directory

I wonder if you are experiencing temporary but longer delay than normal for these directories to sync and update?

Error: "Action 'Get_user_profile_(V2)' failed: Exception of type 'Microsoft.SharePoint.Client.ResourceNotFoundException' was thrown."

Thanks for the suggestion @Ellis Karim - I'd thought that, but this was failing with accounts a couple weeks old. Though, oddly, working with accounts a couple of months old.

In the end, entirely on a whim, I tried specifying what profile properties the action should return (display name, department etc.) as in both the broken flow and my manual test runs didn't - and therefore I assume the action was trying to get everything. Yes, lazy work on the part of the person who created it...

Where I specified the profile properties it should return, the action worked. Where it was left blank and so returned everything, it failed.

I fixed the broken flow by specifying the required properties and now everything works fine.

I didn't have enough accounts that were created in the last few months to be very accurate with testing, but it looks like things broke around mid-December, so I my (uninformed) working theory is that there is some connection to the retirement of Delve which happened around then.
