Copy SP list records to another list

Hi people,

I need your suggestions to create a flow in power automate.

Requirement: I have two SP lists 'Employee' and ' Employee data sow'.

I need to copy items when created in ' Employee' list and make 3 copies of it in ' Employee data sow' list.

Those 3 copies should take 3 unique values from column 'SOW ID' available in 'Employee data sow' list.

Values to take from SOW ID column: A,B,C (which are same for every record that is to be copied)

Whenever a record is created in 'Employee' list it should be copied and create 3 same records in list 'Employee data sow' with values A,B,C along with values from list 'Employee'

I know it's a bit complicated so any help would be appreciated. If someone needs additional information then comment/DM so we can discuss and find out the solution.

Thank you all in advance!!

    Hi @Abdul12 ,

I understand that when an item is created in List1, you want to create 3 new items in List2 with same exact information entered in List1.

Now when you say that you have a column - SOW ID - is it a choice column?

Do you want to create 3 copies of item created in List1 into List2 with SOW ID column having different values for each record? Then you can use the below,

    1. Trigger: When an item is created in List
      0. trigger.PNG
    2. Actions: Loop through the SOW IDs and create a new item in List2 for each SOW ID, with same data as in List1
      0.5 loop.PNG
    3. List1 item and output in List2 after flow run
      List1List1
      List2List2

Please let me know if this helps 🙂

    Kind Regards,

    Shaik Sha

    Hi @Mister_Shaik,

Thank you so much for the response.

It looks like this will resolve the query. I will surely check it and get back to you with the confirmation on it.

One more thing I wanted to ask:

these two list doesn't have the same structure/schema. I mean 4 columns from list 'Employee' are available in 'Employee SOW ID' however structure is not same.

So would it be fine if we can use the same flow for this?

    Hi @Abdul12 ,

As long as the data types of the fields are matching for the fields you want to copy, it doesn't matter if field names in 2 lists are not matching or even if the entire structure is different.

So please go ahead and use the same flow 🙂

    Hi @Mister_Shaik ,

    Great then!!

I will use the flow to fulfill the task and post here if any issue occurs.

    Thanks a bunch!

@Mister_Shaik  - What if the SOWID where a lookup field instead of a choice field? Would that change your answer?

Hi @Anonymous  - It would still be the same flow, but instead of passing static values to the loop, you will first fetch the SOWID from the lookup list, then pass the ID of lookup list into the SOWID field of List2.
